Bullard seems to always be at the top of their volleyball district every single year around this time, almost midway through the district’s schedule, but one name not normally there with them is… Kilgore.
Kilgore (13-12 overall) opened District 16-4A with a loss to Henderson, in four sets, about two and a half weeks ago. Since then, Kilgore has won four straight games – most recently over Chapel Hill on Tuesday night – and is all alone in second place, as they host district-leading Bullard on Friday.
Varsity plays first on Fridays, and that’s at 4:30 p.m., here at KHS gym. Junior varsity and freshmen will follow.
Kilgore swept Chapel Hill in Chapel Hill on Tuesday night, 25-21, 25-18, 25-17.
For the Lady Bulldogs, Jada Abercrombie had eight kills, eight digs, and three assists. Miah Thomas had seven kills, three blocks, 15 digs, and two aces. Lauren Couch had five kills, four digs, an assist and five aces.
Also, Skye Cotton and Dayton McElyea each had three kills; McElyea had six digs, 11 assists, and two aces. Alexis Anderson had two kills, two blocks, and two digs; Skyler Day had five digs and four aces; A’viana McIntyre had two digs and three aces; and Ashton Vallery had 13 assists, two digs and an ace.
