There’s no opinion about it: Sabine High School volleyball already has had a special season, and there could be more – a lot more – to come.

Coach Kristen Reaves’ Lady Cardinals aren’t just defeating opponents: they are dominating, and got another sweep Tuesday night at home over West Rusk, 25-16, 25-21, 25-23.

Sabine earned its 28th win of the season in the process – the Lady Cardinals are 28-5 overall – and are 4-0 in District 16-3A. They’ve completely dominated district play, have 10 straight wins, and even avenged one of their losses (to Timpson).

Sabine hasn’t even lost in September: the Lady Cardinals’ last loss was in the Brownsboro tournament to Bullard, in the shortened, best-of-three format instead of the typical best-of-five.

Nothing was different Tuesday night against the Lady Raiders. Sabine had an outstanding 40 kills in just three sets: Mikinzi Cantrell had 11, Samantha Bell, 10, and Aubree McCann, eight. Ryanne Stuart added six, and Maddie Furrh had five.

McCann had eight blocks.

As a unit, Sabine had 60 digs – Cailtin Bates led with 15, McCann had 14, and Bell, 13. Ally Gresham had six, Furrh, five, and Cantrell and Sierrah Richter, three each. Stuart had one, but also had 39 assists.

The Lady Cardinals still have nine regular season games left. They’ll play at Harmony on Friday, and then host Troup on Tuesday.
