As the final non-district games of the basketball season are being put into the books, Kilgore High School’s teams are putting the finishing touches on their tournament appearances for the year.

Kilgore’s boys competed since Thursday in the Paris Holiday Tournament, and were to play Pine Tree today for the gold bracket championship, at 12:30 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs are closer, competing in the Fidelity Tournament in Hallsville. Kilgore’s girls were to face Lindale this morning at 9, and then Jasper at 3 p.m.

Both teams are off Tuesday night and are set to start their District 16-4A schedules Friday night at home against Gilmer, beginning with subvarsity games in both gyms at 5 p.m.

Bulldogs: Kilgore split its day in Paris on Friday, as it also did on Thursday.

Coach Jeff Coleman’s team faced off against state-ranked Paris, and lost, 49-33.

The ‘Dogs got 15 points from senior Jeremiah Hoskins, and eight from Thomas Hattaway. Jake Thompson added six and Rowdy Rieke and C.J. Ingram each had two.

Kilgore beat North Lamar, 45-30, later on Friday. Hoskins led again, this time with 16, and Thompson had 11. Ingram scored eight and Rieke added five.

Lady Bulldogs: They split their games Friday as well, falling to 6A’s Tyler Lee, 55-20, but then edged out Marshall, 38-37.

Miah Thomas had seven points and Alexis Anderson had six in the loss to Lee; Anderson had 10 rebounds and Thomas had three. Jada Abercrombie had four points and five rebounds.

In the win over Marshall, Anderson and Abercrombie each had 15 points. “A.T.” had 13 rebounds, three steals and blocked two shots. Abercrombie had three rebounds and two steals.
