Sabine’s Bre’den Ford

Bre’den Ford is joining the college football world.

Ford, a standout at Sabine High School for coach Rex Sharp the last four years, is moving on to the college ranks. Sharp informed the News Herald this week that Bre’den will sign a letter of intent with Louisiana College, the fourth member of the 2019 Sabine Cardinals to continue on to the next level.

A defensive back for the Cardinals, Ford had 104 tackles, two fumble recoveries, three tackles for loss, four interceptions and six pass break-ups. He was, of course, named to the all-district team.

Ford was yet another key reason Sabine had its best season in the school’s football program history, dating back to the 1930s. Sabine went 10-2, beat Mount Vernon (coached by Art Briles) in the first round of the University Interscholastic League’s Class 3A playoffs, and eventually lost in round two.

It was the first playoff win for Sabine’s football program.
