The Kilgore Lady Bulldogs’ four-game winning streak came to a halt Friday night, at a very inopportune time in the District 16-4A opener.
Kilgore dropped a blistering, tense five-set matchup against visiting rival Spring Hill on Friday, 16-25, 25-17, 25-19, 16-25, 12-15.

Kilgore will be back in action Saturday, playing at Bullard, starting at 1 p.m.
For KHS against Spring Hill, Miah Thomas had 13 kills, four aces, and two solo blocks. Alexis T. Anderson had 11 kills, two aces, four solo blocks and one block assist.
Sha’destiny Chism had five kills, two aces, a solo block and a block assist; A’viana McIntyre had three kills, 13 digs and two aces; Ashton Vallery had 27 assists and seven digs, and Riley Rios had two aces and eight digs.
Sabine: Coach Tara Wait’s Lady Cardinals got back on track after losing their first game of the season, beating district rival White Oak in four, 25-18, 25-13, 22-25, 25-22 win at home on Saturday.
Aubree McCann went nuts for the Lady Cards, notching 22 kills, 18 digs, seven blocks and three aces. Sierrah Richter had 43 assists, 15 digs and three aces for Sabine, which was to visit Gladewater on Tuesday, after the print deadline for this issue of the News Herald, and then play at Gary on Friday, starting at 4:30, varsity only.
Ryanne Stuart had 12 kills, five digs and two blocks for Sabine; Maddie Furrh had nine kills and 18 digs; Ella Roberts had 20 digs; Ally Gresham had 15; Caitlin Bates had nine; and Cale Brown had two kills and two blocks.
Overton: Coach Rickey Hammontree’s Lady Mustangs had tough sledding against Hawkins, losing in three, 13-25, 14-25, 21-25.
For Overton, Mary Fenter had five kills, six digs and two aces. Kaley McMillian had three kills, nine digs, and two aces; Jewely English had 16 digs and three aces; and Ta’leyah Tilley had five digs and three assists.
Overton is 1-1 in district play, having topped Leverett’s Chapel last week, and was to play at Carlisle on Tuesday, following the print deadline for this News Herald. They host Big Sandy on Friday at 4:30 p.m., varsity only.
