LONGVIEW – For the first 30-40 minutes of Tuesday night’s District 16-4A matchup between Kilgore and Spring Hill, it looked like almost a sure thing that the Lady Bulldogs would knock off SHHS, third in the district standings.

Kilgore won the first two sets, 25-21, 28-26, but it just wasn’t to be – Spring Hill rallied to tie things up, winning set three (25-15 Spring Hill) and set four (25-21), and then captured the fifth and final set, 15-10.

The loss drops KHS to 3-4 in district with the bulk of the second round in front of them: Cumberland Academy comes to Kilgore Friday for a 4:30 p.m. varsity start, and then next week, Kilgore hosts Bullard (Tuesday) and visits Chapel Hill (Friday, Oct. 16).

Lindale, Bullard and Spring Hill (in that order) hold the district’s top three spots. The top four from each district make the UIL Class 4A playoffs.
