Sabine camp begins Monday

There will be a football camp at Sabine High School’s field for boys that will be in fourth through ninth grades this fall.

The camp will begin Monday from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. through Wednesday, and the registration fee is $35 per camper. For more information, contact SHS football coach and athletic director Rex Sharp at (903) 984-7266.

Season tickets at  Sabine on sale Aug. 5

Previous season ticket-holders at  Sabine High School can begin picking up their tickets for the 2019 season starting Monday, Aug. 5.

Ticket-holders last year can come pick up their new tickets Aug. 5-9, at the cost of $25 per season ticket. On Aug. 12-16, the tickets that weren’t picked up will be on sale for the general public. This will be at the Sabine Elementary campus from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day.

The Cardinals, coached by Rex Sharp, will have five home games: at home against Carlisle for the season opener on Aug. 30; vs. Shelbyville on Sept. 6; vs. Winnsboro on Oct. 11; vs. Mineola on Oct. 25; and the regular season finale against White Oak on Nov. 8. The date against Winnsboro is Sabine’s 2019 homecoming game.

Kilgore College girls camp Aug. 5-9

The annual Lady Rangers basketball camp for girls entering first through 12th grades this fall is set for Monday, Aug. 5 through Friday, Aug. 9, at Masters Gym. The camp will be conducted by Lady Rangers head coach Addie Lees.

Girls entering first through sixth grades will be in the morning session – that’s from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. each day. Girls going in to seventh through 12th grades will be in the afternoon session (1 until 3). Registration is $40 per camper, and that includes T-shirt and daily awards.

Campers should bring proper workout clothes (gym shorts, shirt, socks and basketball shoes).


Clinic for girls Saturday, Aug. 24

The Kilgore High School Hi-Stepperswill host their annual clinic for girls on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 8:30 a.m. until noon at the main gym at KHS.

Entry is $30 per camper, and $50 for two family members. A camp T-shirt and snack are included, although campers should add $10 to registration to have their T-shirt blinged.

Showoffs will conclude the event that day. Campers are invited to attend the home football game on Sept. 13 against Pine Tree. The campers will take part in the victory line prior to the game and sit with the Hi-Steppers during the first quarter.

Rahab’s benefit tourney Sept. 20 at Tempest

There will be a benefit golf tournament for Rahab’s Retreat and Ranch on Friday, Sept. 20, at Tempest Golf Club, just off Highway 135.

The tournament is a four-player scramble, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Registration is $150 per player, and includes two mulligans. The fee includes the golf and cart fees, a meal, entry into the long drive contest, and four closest to the pin prizes.

Those who don’t enter with a team will be paired with others who enter as singles.
