Jay Cox tourney Saturday

The second annual Jay Cox Memorial Bass Fishing Tournament is this Saturday, from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Lake O’ The Pines’ Johnson Creek. Entry fee is $25, with a 50 percent payback.

All proceeds will go to the LiveLikeJay Foundation, which provides scholarships for graduating seniors and other aid to KISD students.

Jay was a Kilgore High School student who loved all things outdoors, especially fishing. He passed away on June 17 2017.

Check-in is from 6 a.m. until 7 that day, and lunch is included with registration ($7 if not fishing).

TENNIS

KHS tennis camps begin June 24, July 22

Kilgore High School is hosting a pair of tennis camps this break.

The regular summer tennis camp will be next week, June 24-27, for third through fifth graders, and for sixth through 12th graders (in the upcoming 2019 school year). Third through fifth grade campers will attend each day from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m., at the cost of $50 per camper. Sixth grade through seniors will attend from 8:30 until 11, at the cost of $75 per camper.

On July 22-25, there’s a “get ready” tennis camp for sixth through 12th graders from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m., at the cost of $50 per camper.

BASKETBALL

Sabine camp is next week

The annual Sabine Cardinals boys basketball camp for boys in grades three through six is June 24-26 at the Sabine Elementary gymnasium, from 12:30 p.m. until 2 each day.

The cost is $35 per camper and includes the camp instruciotn, a camp shirt and awards – discounts are available for siblings. Campers can contact coach Jason Heffner at Sabine Elementary, or register on the camp’s first day, prior to the camp start.
