KHS tennis camps begin June 24, July 22

Kilgore High School is hosting a pair of tennis camps this break.

The regular summer tennis camp will be June 24-27, for third through fifth graders, and for sixth through 12th graders (in the upcoming 2019 school year). Third through fifth grade campers will attend each day from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m., at the cost of $50 per camper. Sixth grade through seniors will attend from 8:30 until 11, at the cost of $75 per camper.

On July 22-25, there’s a “get ready” tennis camp for sixth through 12th graders from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m., at the cost of $50 per camper.

Sabine camp June 24-26

The annual Sabine Cardinals boys basketball camp for boys in grades three through six is June 24-26 at the Sabine Elementary gymnasium, from 12:30 p.m. until 2 each day.

The cost is $35 per camper and includes the camp instruction, a camp shirt and awards – discounts are available for siblings. Campers can contact coach Jason Heffner at Sabine Elementary, or register on the camp’s first day, prior to the camp start.

KC boys camp July 8-11

Coach Brian Hoberecht’s Kilgore College boys basketball camp will be here on campus at Masters Gymnasium on July 8-11.

The camp is for boys ages five through 17, and the registration is $100 per camper through June 30; it’s $120 per camper after that date. That includes instruction, a camp ball, a camp T-shirt, awards and lunch every day.

Registration will be at 8:30 a.m. the first day. There will also be concessions open during break time, with items at a low price.

Parents and guardians are invited to the end-of-camp game, which will be on the last day (Thursday, July 11) at 3:30 p.m. there at Masters. An awards presentation will follow the game.

Women’s softball league forming for June 23 start

The East Texas/Louisiana Women’s Fastpitch League is forming teams with a tentative start date for games set for June 23.

The season will run through Aug. 4 (six games), with games scheduled to be played at 3 p.m. on Sundays at the White Oak softball field.

The league is for ages 18-older, including current high school and college fastpitch athletes, past high school players and college softball alumni.

Cost is $20 per player, plus the cost of team shirts, and deadline to enter is June 1. All games will be played with two umpires and have a 1-hour, 15-minute time limit (or seven innings).
