Kilgore’s season under way
The Kilgore High School volleyball program played in a play day (a series of scrimmages) last weekend at Henderson Middle School, and at press time Tuesday night, the Lady Bulldogs were set to open their season at home against Nacogdoches.

The Lady ‘Dogs, led by first-year head coach Madeline Harris, are to play in a tournament at Garland this weekend (varsity only), and will host John Tyler next Tuesday, starting with freshmen at 5 p.m. (junior varsity and varsity will follow).
Harris’s team plays in a tournament at Troup next weekend, and visits Sabine on Tuesday, Aug. 20.
District play doesn’t begin until mid-September, at Henderson on Sept. 17.
Season ticket sales continue at Sabine
Season tickets for the upcoming Sabine High School football season can be purchased now.
Season ticket packages for those who had them last year are on sale all this week in the office, at the cost of $25 per season ticket. Beginning Monday and all next week, the tickets that weren’t picked up will be on sale for the general public. This will be at the Sabine Elementary campus from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day.
The Cardinals, coached by Rex Sharp, will have five home games: at home against Carlisle for the season opener on Aug. 30; vs. Shelbyville on Sept. 6; vs. Winnsboro on Oct. 11; vs. Mineola on Oct. 25; and the regular season finale against White Oak on Nov. 8. The date against Winnsboro is Sabine’s 2019 homecoming game.

Benefit tourney Sept. 20 at Tempest
There will be a benefit golf tournament for Rahab’s Retreat and Ranch on Friday, Sept. 20, at Tempest Golf Club, just off Highway 135.
The tournament is a four-player scramble, with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Registration is $150 per player, and includes two mulligans. The fee includes the golf and cart fees, a meal, entry into the long drive contest, and four closest to the pin prizes. Those who don’t enter with a team will be paired with other singles.

Boys and Girls Club tourney postponed
The Boys and Girls Club golf tournament that had originally been scheduled for this Saturday at Tempest Golf Club has been postponed. No future date has been announced.
