Basketball in the Region XIV Conference is a marathon, not a sprint, and Kilgore College’s Lady Rangers were reminded of that again Wednesday night on the road.
Coach Addie Lees’ Lady Rangers, coming off a blowout win over Jacksonville College last weekend, were in a much-tighter game Wednesday at Bossier Parish Community College. KC got out with an 82-72 win.
The Lady Rangers are 3-4 overall, 2-1 in conference play, and are home today at 10 a.m. against Coastal Bend. That change was made due to the icy weather. KC is slated to play at Blinn College in Brenham next Wednesday night, starting at 5:30.
Jada Hood came out firing for the Lady Rangers. She had 27 points at Bossier, and also had three steals. Rahmena Henderson had 14 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals. Vianey Galvan had 11 points, seven assists and two rebounds, and McKenze Brown and Kerrighan Dunn each had 10 points; Brown had seven rebounds and two assists, and Dunn had five rebounds and three steals.
Destinee Reyna had six points, and Josephine Adegbite had three points and seven rebounds. KC shot 30-of-61, went 7-of-16 from three-point range, and hit 15 of 23 free throws.
Bossier got 22 points from Faith Robinson and 18 from Ma’Kaila Lewis.

The Rangers had been scheduled to host both Coastal Bend and Jacksonville College this week (the JC game was to be today), but both of those games, as mentioned in Wednesday’s News Herald, were postponed following KC’s COVID protocols, KC public information director Chris Craddock said.
Craddock noted that the games, obviously, are a part of the Rangers’ Region XIV Conference schedule and will be re-scheduled.
The Rangers, coached by Brian Hoberecht, are 4-2 overall and are scheduled to play at Bossier Parish this coming Wednesday.
