The weather was a hinderance, but the Kilgore High School Bulldogs soccer team won twice this week – including a Thursday night game that was moved up a day to avoid the icy weather.
Kilgore’s Lady Bulldogs won their Tuesday night game, and then moved their second game this week, the Friday night one, up a few hours to avoid the weather. That game, against Carthage, was not decided when the News Herald went to press.

At press time Friday, everything was still set for next week, although wintery weather may force changes. The Bulldogs are scheduled to host Center on Tuesday night, here at R.E. St. John Memorial Stadium, and then visit Sabine on Friday night, at 7. The Lady Bulldogs are scheduled on the road both nights: at Center on Tuesday, at Sabine on Friday.

Girls: Coach Todd BonDurant’s Lady Bulldogs got into a close battle on the road at Spring Hill on Tuesday, but ultimately won in a shootout.
Kilgore outgunned Spring Hill big-time, with 21 shots to the Lady Panthers’ five, but…
“We just could not hit the net,” BonDurant said. “…We had our chances to put it away in the first half, and didn’t.”
Jackie Estrella scored the game-clinching goal for the Lady Bulldogs, and Alejandra Whitaker, in goal, had a big save. Emma Taylor had two goals during the regular portion of the game.
