Volleyball season rolls on, and Sabine just keeps on winning.

The Lady Cardinals won again, sweeping Gladewater, on Tuesday night, their 26th win of the season.

Kilgore lost, unfortunately, in its District 16-4A opener at Henderson, and Leverett’s Chapel lost its second district matchup, falling to an un-LC-like 0-2 in district play.

Kilgore’s match this weekend with Gilmer was moved to noon today, rather than Friday night, and then coach Madeline Harris’s Lady Bulldogs will be back in action on Tuesday, on the road at Spring Hill in Longview. Freshmen play at 4:30, followed by junior varsity in then varsity. Today, against Gilmer, varsity will play first at noon.

Kilgore: Although they stretched it out to a fourth set, Kilgore couldn’t overcome the Lady Lions. KHS won the first set, 28-26, but lost in three straight after, 22-25, 21-25, 22-25.

Kilgore drops to 9-12 on the season, but 0-1 in district play.

In the four sets for Kilgore, Jada Abercrombie had 14 kills, two blocks, two assists, and 15 digs. Miah Thomas had nine kills, five blocks, an assist, and 18 digs. Lauren Couch had five kills and eight digs. Skye Cotton had four kills and three digs.

Ashton Vallery had 18 assists and 10 digs, and Dayton McElyea had 14 assists and 11 digs. McElyea also had three kills. Skyler Day led Kilgore with 22 digs.

Sabine: Few teams so far have been able to slow Sabine, now 26-5 on the season. Sabine swept Gladewater, 25-7, 25-14, 25-10, on Tuesday night.

The Lady Cardinals had 38 kills in the match, including nine from Samantha Bell and eight each by Mikinzi Cantrell, Aubree McCann and Maddie Furrh. Ryanne Stuart had three, and Sierrah Richter, two.

Caitlin Bates led the way with seven aces; Richter had six, to go with 36 assists. Bell had eight digs; Bates had seven.

Sabine is 2-0 in District 16-3A play, and coach Kristen Reaves’ team was to play at home against Arp on Friday. They’ll also be home Tuesday against West Rusk, a 4:30 p.m. freshmen start.

LC: The Lady Lions will have to battle back to get into playoff contention in their district after losing a five-set battle at home against Union Grove on Tuesday night. LC won the first set, 25-20, but then lost, 14-25. LC took the third set, 25-17, but then lost the last two, 20-25, 17-19.

For LC in the matchup, Michelle Jamaica had 13 kills, 31 digs and three aces. Lexus Haley had 10 kills, nine digs, 15 assists and an ace; and Jalynn Peery had a kill, two digs and four aces.

LC was to host Overton on Friday, and then will be home twice next week: Tuesday against Union Hill, and Friday against Carlisle.
