Kilgore fought hard for first-year coach Madeline Harris, but John Tyler brought an aggressiveness to the court Tuesday night in a volleyball matchup, still in tune-up time.

John Tyler got the win, but Kilgore did take them to four sets. JT dealt KHS a 25-16 loss in the opener. Kilgore bounced back for a 25-14 win, but then lost the final two, 13-25, 21-25.

The Lady Bulldogs are 3-6 overall, most of that having been played in a Garland tournament just over a week ago. Kilgore is off this weekend, and visits Sabine on Tuesday, starting with the freshmen game at 5 p.m. Kilgore visits Arp next Friday.

Against JT, Jada Abercrombie had 11 kills, and teammate Miah Thomas had seven. Abercombie had nine blocks, 14 assists and an ace. Thomas had two blocks, an assist, and 17 digs.

Alexis T. Anderson had three kills, a block, an assist, and four digs. A’viana McIntyre had three kills, a block, an assist, seven digs, and two aces. Skye Cotton and Dayton McElyea each had two kills; McElyea had seven digs, Cotton two; McElyea had 12 assists; and each of them had an ace. Ashton Vallery had 10 assists and two aces.
