Former NFL standout visits Boys and Girls Club

Former National Football League linebacker George Cumby (far right) made a stop in Kilgore on Saturday for a one-day camp at the Kilgore Boys and Girls Club. Cumby suited upĀ  for the University of Oklahoma, then was drafted in 1980 by the Green Bay Packers. Cumby, a former T.K. Gorman standout, went on to play linebacker for Buffalo and Philadelphia in his eight-year NFL career. He is a former head coach at Texas College and the the current director of recruitment at Jacksonville College. Cumby gave the kids some fundamental football instruction, and is just one of the Boys and Girls Club assets. For more on the club, located on Harris Street, call (903) 984-6071.
