First practice

Kilgore High School tight end Jacobe Weick (left) hits a tackling dummy, as tight ends coach and former Bulldog standout Colby Rosen looks on. The Ragin’ Red, like programs across the state except 6A and 5A, began practice for the 2020 season on Monday. The Bulldogs will have their first day in pads on Friday, as usual. Kilgore’s first action of any kind is a scrimmage at home against Kaufman on Thursday night, August 20, and then they’ll open the season against longtime rival Carthage on Friday, Aug. 28. The News Herald’s annual football preview will be a part of the paper on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
