Kilgore High School boys basketball originally had a game set at Marshall on Friday night, but agreed to move the game to today to help people who wanted to see both games.
The Bulldogs, coached by Jeff Coleman, will play at Marshall today at noon, varsity only. The Bulldogs are short-handed just a bit, with some players still on the football team helping the Ragin’ Red in its playoff run.
Kilgore is 0-1, having dropped its season opener at Nacogdoches, 62-52, last Tuesday. KISD is on Thanksgiving break this coming week, but the Bulldogs are scheduled to host Rusk on Tuesday night, starting with freshmen at 5, then junior varsity, and varsity in the nightcap, around 7 p.m.
The Bulldogs are slated to visit Pine Tree next Saturday, a noon freshmen start, with JV and varsity to follow.
Coach Trusundra McGill’s Lady Bulldogs were to play at Tyler on Friday night, and then will host Sabine on Tuesday at noon (JV), varsity to follow.
Sabine: Coach Sara Cantrell’s Lady Cardinals have been busy lately, beating West Rusk, 46-21, and then competing in the Union Grove tournament, winning a couple of games.
Sabine’s girls were to play McLeod on Friday, and then the tournament is to be determined, obviously, by wins and losses. Sabine plays at Kilgore on Tuesday, a noon JV start, with varsity afterward.
Against West Rusk, Claudia Simmons had 14 points for Sabine. Ashlynn Davis had nine. Addy Gresham, six, Ally Gresham, four, and Maddie Furrh, four. Ashleigh McCormack also scored four, Breanna Evans scored three, and Tayla Calico had two.
In the UG tourney, Sabine beat Spring Hill, 40-25, then beat Alba Golden, 44-23.
Against Sabine, Simmons had eight points; Addy Gresham also had eight; Davis had seven; Calico had six; Evans, Eliza Roper and Ally Gresham each had three; and McCormack had two.
Against Alba-Golden, Addy Gresham had 17 points, and Sabine outscored A-G 21-3 in the first half. Furrh had 10 points. Simmons had eight. Davis had five, and Roper and Ally Gresham each had two.
