A Celebration of Life will be held for Shirley K. Zillgitt, 93, of Kilgore, will be held at 2pm on Friday, January 4, 2019, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Rev. Brian Nutt officiating. Interment will follow in Grace Hill Cemetery in Longview. Ms. Zillgitt completed her earthly journey on Sunday, December 30, 2018 in Kilgore.

Shirley was born on July 28, 1925 in Goodhue, MN to Elmer and Irene Knutson. She worked as a bank teller for many years in Longview. Shirley was a long time and faithful member of Grace Fellowship Church in Kilgore. She enjoyed keeping busy by volunteering in the Ladies Auxiliary of Roy H. Laird Memorial Hospital for many years and she enjoyed going to her exercise class. Her family, especially her great-grandchildren, were the source of her strength and spending time with them was when she was happiest.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sherri Wilson and husband Gene of Dallas, Lou Fortson and husband Dr. Wayne Fortson; grandchildren, Cristy Bennett, Shawn Shafer, Alexandra Baer, Abigail Hines and husband Chris; great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Leslie, William Bennett, Kaleb Shafer, Alexis Luis, Hudson and Annie Hines, niece, Jan McAfee, great-nephew, Sam Stell. Also, left to carry on her legacy are numerous friends and other loving family members.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and brother Les Knutson

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Arabella in Kilgore and HeartsWay Hospice Rehabilitation for their excellent and compassionate care of Shirley during the final days of her earthly journey.

The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore on Thursday from 5 until 7 in the evening.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Shirley K. Zillgitt's name to a charity of your choice.
