Roland “Bubba Ledet

Mass for Roland “Bubba” Ledet, 86, of Kilgore were Friday, August 10, at Christ the King Catholic Church with the Very Reverend John Gomez, JCL, VG officiating. Mr. Ledet died Tuesday, August 7, 2018 in Tyler.

Roland was born May 31, 1932 in Abbeville, La., to Aubrey and Ezare Ledet. He was a 1950 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School in Abbeville. Shortly after graduation he married the love of his life, Nell Polk Ledet, on August 12, 1951. He was a member of the United States Air Force and, after his discharge, he had a great career in the Oil Field. He worked various positions from tool pusher to supervisor to manager for different companies in New Mexico, Mississippi, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.

He moved his family to Kilgore in 1970 when hired by Davis-Kemp Tool Company. He loved his Church, Christ the King Catholic Church, where he was a 4th Degree Knight. He enjoyed football, baseball and softball. He coached his three children and his granddaughter. His hobbies were golf, working outdoors, helping other people and watching the New Orleans Saints and the Houston Astros.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Nell Polk Ledet; daughter, Jill Horton and her husband Amon of Kilgore; son, Brey Ledet and his wife Janet of Tyler, son, Alan Ledet of Tuttle, Okla.; three grandchildren, Amber Horton of Kilgore, Andrew Ledet and his wife Tonya of Henderson, Nev., and Jeremy Ledet and his wife Mia of Yukon, Okla.; two great-grandchildren, Marcell Simpson of Henderson and Remy Ledet of Yukon; three brothers, Kenneth Ledet and his wife Madeline of Choctaw, Okla., Steve Ledet and his wife Diane of Magnolia, Texas, and David Ledet and his wife Bonnie of Yuma, Colo.; sister, Vicki Ledet of Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Carol and Donald Ledet and sister JoAnn Quinn.
