Joe Dale (Jody) Whittington Jr.
Joe Dale (Jody) Whittington Jr., 61, of Hemphill, passed away at his home in El Camino Bay on Jan. 2, 2020.
He was born in Kilgore on Oct. 17, 1958 and graduated from Kilgore High School. He then attended the Univeristy of Texas in Austin where he received his diploma Dec. 17, 1982 with BBA degree.
He is survived by his mother, Sarah J. Whittington of Hemphill; daughter, Britni D. Brandt and husband David, of Austin; sister, Joni J. Mathis and husband Billy, of Longview; brother, Monnie R. Whittington of Hemphill; nephew, Jake C. Whittington of Kilgore; aunt, Susan Selby Thompson of Forth Worth; very close friends, Clayton Sheldon, Joe Herricks, Marylee Manning and mother Lillie Mae Odom and Melissa Shafer, all of Kilgore; and Dell Bunata of Longview.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Pirtle Baptist Cemetery in Pirtle. His sister, Marcy Ann Whittington, who died July 11, 2019, will be buried at the same cemetery as Jody and his father Joe Dale Whittington, Sr. and other members of his family.
