Glen Lee

 

Services for Glen Lee, 96, of Kilgore will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 28, at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home with Revs. Bill Blanks and Jeneille LaGrone officiating. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Friday, September 28, prior to the funeral service at Rader Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Mr. Lee passed awayMonday, September 24, 2018 in Longview.

Glen was born June 7, 1922 in Kilgore to Claude W. and Mamie Lacy Lee. He graduated from Kilgore High School in 1941.On November 29, 1941, he married Melba Ellzey and they were married 76 years. They were the first couple to marry in the current sanctuary of the First Christian Church of Kilgore. They remained active members of that church all their lives.

Glen proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II and worked as a foreman for Sabine Pipe & Supply for 37 years. In 1962, he opened Glen Lee's Violin Shop. He could repair any violin and people would send them from all over for him to fix. Glen and his shop were even featured on an episode of Texas Country Reporter. Glen will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Glen is preceded in death by his wife, Melba; brother, Hollis Lee; and a sister, Ruth Drawhorn.

He is survived by two sons, Ronnie Lee and his wife Barbara of Kilgore, Mike Lee and his wife Nancy of Lake Cherokee; seven grandchildren, Cindy Lee of Wylie, Angela Clausen of Lewisville, Donna Laborde of Longview, Karen Reed of Longview, Richard Lee of Longview, David Lee of Round Rock, Christina Hare of Flower Mound; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Kilgore, 609 East Main Street, Kilgore, Texas 75662.
