The Kilgore City Council voted unanimously at Tuesday’s meeting to nominate Jeff Stone, General Manager of Skeeter Boats, to the Kilgore Economic Development Corporation board of directors.
KEDC Executive Director Jana Russell presented the nomination to the council. Stone’s appointment will fill a vacancy on the board.
According to Stone’s business bio, since 2001, Stone has served as Senior VP/GM of Skeeter Products, Inc., a manufacturer of fiberglass fishing boats serving the U.S. market as well as markets in Canada, Japan, South Africa and Australia. Stone also served as controller of Skeeter from 1985-1988, 1994-1996 and CFO of Yamaha Boat Companies (YBC) located in Kilgore from 1996-2000.
Stone has been a member of First Baptist in Longview since 1985 where he has served as a deacon for 20 years, on many committees and as a teacher and volunteer in the youth department. He has also been a member of the Board of Directors of the NMMA (National Marine Manufacturer’s Association) since 2001.
The NMMA represents the $42 billion marine industry and its 1300 member companies in the areas of government advocacy, safety and certification and marketing and promotion with a mission to protect and promote boating.
