Safe Landing

Kilgore College Director of Marketing Manny Almanza (at left) and Kilgore College Police Department Capt. Sammy Wagner watch and take photos as a U.S. Army UH-72A Lakota helicopter lifts off from a field at Kilgore College Commons near the KC softball fields Friday. The chopper touched down about 10:30 a.m. Friday, carrying Maj. Gen. Dawn Ferrell (Deputy Adjutant General — Air), CW2 John Harrison Watts (Texas State Guard), CPT John Lenderman (Aide-de-Camp), Texas State Rep. Cecil Bell and Ms. Nina Shelat of the Government Affairs Office. The group, from the Texas Military Dept., flew in from Camp Mabry in Austin to visit KC to discuss a potential partnership in support of House Bill 3601 (a piece of legislation passed in the last session recognizing the quality of training received by Air, Army, and Texas Guard members).
