An Overton man turned himself in Sunday afternoon after police say he shot a man in the head at a party in Gladewater.
Smith County Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators identified Trevor D’Jaun Tinney, 19, a former Kilgore High School student, as the alleged shooter at the party located in the 13600 block of County Road 3104 near Gladewater. Deputies responded to the shooting at the party around 1:45 a.m., the sheriff’s office said.
Officers learned the victim, Quavion Mumphrey, 23, of Overton, another former KHS student, was shot in the head and was in serious condition as of Sunday night.
He was flown to Parkland Hospital in Dallas for further treatment after originally being sent to Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview, according to the sheriff’s office.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of Tinney for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and a bond of $350,000 set for the charge. On Sunday afternoon, Tinney turned himself in at the Kilgore Police Department, the sheriff’s office said.
