A 76-year-old Overton man was killed Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision about six miles south of Kilgore on U.S. Hwy. 259.
From initial reports, investigators say Henry Earl Roberson died after his vehicle crossed into the path of another car while crossing 259 in Rusk County Nov. 22. The driver of the second vehicle, 21-year-old Dreama Marie Reese of Longview, was transported to Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center in stable condition.
According to a report from Sgt. Jean Dark with the Texas Department of Public Safety, Roberson was traveling east on FM-850 in his 2013 Cadillac SRX and stopped at its intersection with Hwy. 259 about 4:30 p.m.
Reese was southbound in the inside lane of 259, Dark reported, in a 2005 Infinity G35, approaching FM-850.
“The driver of the Cadillac attempted to cross US-259 and was struck as it entered the path of the Infinity,” Dark noted. Troopers responded to the scene at 4:32 p.m. “Roberson was transported to UT-Health – Henderson where he was later pronounced by Judge Janna Enlow.
“The crash remains under investigation by the Henderson DPS office.”
