Kilgore ISD has announced a partnership with LeTourneau University in Longview, allowing district employees to receive tuition discounts from the institution.
“This discount applies to existing or new LeTourneau students, whether taking one individual class or pursuing an entire degree. The partnership will inform and encourage faculty and staff to earn degrees in order to advance their personal goals and the work of Kilgore ISD,” said KISD Superintendent Dr. Andy Baker in an email Monday.
LeTourneau University, founded as a technical institute in 1946, became LeTourneau University in 1989, an “accredited, nondenominational Christian university, offering four-year and two-year degree programs in engineering, technology, the liberal arts, business, aeronautical science, education, and the sciences, plus master's degree programs in business and education,” according to the institution’s website.
This isn’t the first time Kilgore schools and LeTourneau have teamed up to accomplish an educational goal.
In 2012, Kilgore College and the university signed a deal making it easier for KC counselors to advise students on which courses they needed to take to transfer to LeTourneau successfully.
