— Steven Spielberg
Movie magic arrives in Kilgore today with Reel East Texas Film Festival. It all begins with the second annual Student Film Showcase on Saturday, Nov. 6, and continues with screenings Nov. 11-13 in the festival’s fifth year of independent films and activities. The annual awards brunch is set for Sunday, Nov. 14. See the event schedule at reeleasttexas.com/2021-event-schedule.
A Veterans Day ceremony will be held at the Harris Street Veterans Monument at 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11. The speaker will be Julie Brogoitti Woods and the Rangerettes will be singing the national anthem. Bring lawn chairs and make sure to bundle up since it might be chilly that morning.

Kilgore St. The event will take place at “Tis the Season,” a “Geekmas” celebration presented by Kilgore Geekend from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will feature holiday music, family-friendly events, game and more.
