There is a slate of events set for downtown Kilgore this weekend:
The SuperHero 5K and 1k Fun Run will be held starting at 8 a.m. Saturday Sign up at https://runsignup.com/Race/TX/Kilgore/SuperHeroSprintFestival.
The SuperHero run will follow the same route as the Color Run held earlier this year.
The Kilgore Summer Vendors’ Market will be held downtown Saturday, from 8 a.m. to noon.
The “Sip and Shop” event at the Texan Theater will be held in downtown Saturday, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Kilgore Mercantile and Music will host a Bluegrass and Blue Bell Acoustic Jam from 4 to 9 p.m. on Saturday.
The Kilgore Lions Club will host their 90th anniversary celebration Thursday, June 24, at their club headquarters on 307 N. Rusk St., starting at 6:30 p.m.
The event will feature a catfish dinner catered by Joel Camp. Admission is $20 per person.

On June 5, Kilgore Police Department Officer Patricia Davis was recognized by the Piney Woods Substance Abuse Coalition for her efforts in drug prevention through her work with our kids in KISD. Congratulations to Davis for her hard work and effort to help keep Kilgore kids safe!
The Kilgore Public Library is encouraging locals to join the Friends of KPL, or to renew their membership, as the Friends are hosting a giveaway this week.
“If you love the library, it’s a great way to show your support. They fund all of our events and programs through fundraising, requesting sponsors, and regular memberships dues. We wouldn’t have such a fun Summer Reading Program without them!” read a post from KPL.
