Denise Rhinert, Jennifer McKay, Lawana Sistrunk, and Gladys Crouch, members of the Kilgore City Council of Beta Sigma Phi, are busy working on the Come and Go Reception and Reveal for the 2021 First Lady of Kilgore.

The event is planned for Sunday, May 23, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Martin Gas. All Kilgore First Ladies present will be introduced and First Lady Kay Castles will give her words of thanks.

The new 2021 Kilgore First Lady will be revealed at 2:30 p.m. The First Lady Of Kilgore has been presented since 1948.

  

The Kilgore Police Department welcomed a new officer into its ranks this week. Johnathan Ryan Reinert graduated from the KC Police Academy and was hired by KPD, according to post from the department. He has completed pre-service training and was sworn in by Honorable Judge Tim Bryan.

He begins his Field Training program this week and will be assigned to various Field Training Officers for 18 weeks. He is a Kilgore native as well as a U.S. Army combat veteran.

The Kilgore Public Library is celebrating “Get Caught Reading” Month in May. You can get a chance to win a free library tote or shirt by sending KPL a picture of yourself reading a library book or shopping the Friends Book Sale to share on the library’s social media and other promotions.

  

Congratulations to our graduating Bulldog seniors! The Kilgore High School Class of 2021 were set to receive their diplomas Friday night at R.E. St. John Stadium in Kilgore.

They managed to persevere through truly unusual circumstances in 2020 and have adapted to challenging times. Our hats are off to our graduates, and we wish them the best as they take the next step in their lives. Go Dogs!

  
