Kilgore Woman’s Club Meeting Hostesses:Vernie Kunkel, Peggy Bowne, Lawana Sistrunk and Deborah Tanner.

The Kilgore Woman’s Club met on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at the home of Peggy Bowne. Other hostesses were Vernie Kunkel, Lawana Sistrunk, Deborah Tanner and Ferol Whitfield.

Lawana Sistrunk , President, conducted the meeting. She welcomed Darlene Bingham as a new member. She also reported on members who are ill.

Officers for next year will be: President – Patti Cunyus, 1st Vice-President – Kim Link, 2nd Vice-President – Gayla Baxter, Secretary/Reporter – Deborah Tanner, Treasurer – Jackie Fout and Parliamentarian – Lawana Sistrunk.

The April luncheon was cancelled due to the coronavirus. Annette Morgan has agreed to do her program about Van Cliburn next year. A decision about whether or not to hold the May meeting with installation of officers will be made at a later date.

Joan Smith gave the program about Gussie Nell Davis and the Kilgore College Rangerettes. The Rangerettes were formed to keep fans in the stands during football games. Their first performance was September 12, 1940. Joan, Glenda Butts and Roberta Boggs shared memories of their time in the Rangerettes.

The next meeting is scheduled for May 14 at Linda Sartor’s home. The Executive Committee will be the hostesses.

Members present were Gayla Baxter, Darlene Bingham, Roberta Boggs, Peggy Bowne, Glenda Butts, Ruth Anne Camp, Lauren Cunyus, Jackie Fout, Vernie Kunkel, Kim Link, Sylvia Nelson, Linda Sartor, Lawana Sistrunk, Joan Smith, Deborah Tanner and Virginia Wallace.
