Local Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts are participating in “Scouting For Food” this week and next week. The food donations will be given to Helping Hands Food Pantry.

Kilgore Cub Scout Pack 259 has already distributed food collection bags and will begin collecting donations this Saturday, Nov. 13

Kilgore Boy Scout Troop 252 will be putting out donation bags this week and picking them up next Saturday, Nov. 20.

“We’re hoping that people will be real generous,” said Scout leader Carolyn Holcombe.

This year’s drive will cover a much smaller area of town compared to previous years, due to lower membership numbers.

“We’ve missed a huge area of town due to not having enough boys in Scouts and we would like for these people to have the opportunity to participate in the food drive if they want to.”

For those who were not included in this year’s donation area and still want to help out, food donations can be taken directly to Helping Hands at 201 S. Martin St. or contact Carolyn Holcombe at (903) 987-1880.
