Kilgore City Council voted to approve an order of election for municipalities at a regular meeting Tuesday, Jan. 28, setting the upcoming city council election for May.

Ordinance No. 1756, an order of general election for 2020, was passed unanimously by the council.

“It is to hold the general election in May for three places open on the council,” said Mayor Ronnie Spradlin.

According to the ordinance, a general election will be held on May 2, 2020 for the purpose of electing city council members for Place 1 (currently held by Merlyn Holmes), Place 3 (Mike Sechrist) and Place 4 (Victor Boyd).

Early voting by personal appearance will be conducted at City Hall, 815 N. Kilgore Street, on the following days and times:

8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2020

7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2020

8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2020

8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2020

8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2020

8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2020

7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 28, 2020

7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2020

Applications for ballot by mail may be mailed to:

Applications for ballot by mail must be received no later than the close of business on April 17,

2020.

Mayor Pro Tem and Place 2 Council Member Harvey McClendon made the motion to adopt the ordinance and Spradlin seconded the motion. The rest of the council voted unanimously to approve the motion.
