Kilgore City Council adopted Ordinance No. 1751 Tuesday, a budget amendment for fiscal year 2019 related to funds set aside for city staff salary increases.

The funds were placed into a single account and, upon review, finance staff realized the funds needed to be moved to the different city departments to enact the raises.

Finance Director Landon Ward presented the ordinance to the council.

“At the beginning of fiscal year 2019, you guys approved salary increases to the staff. At that time, we placed all of those funds into one account. At this time, now that we’ve gone through the year and seen that those funds actually needed to be allotted to…the different departments. That’s all that this budget amendment is intended to do,” Ward said.

The council unanimously approved the measure.
