Gregg County cancels jury duty

Gregg County has cancelled jury duty scheduled for Monday, March 8. Anyone who received a summons for jury selection that day is no longer required to appear.

“One of the side of effects of calling for a jury, whether it is for a civil or criminal trial, is it provides incentive for both sides to see if an agreement or a plea is possible,” Gregg County District Clerk Trey Hattaway said this week. “As of today, all trials scheduled for next week have been resolved.”

“We thank those willing to serve and be a part of the judicial process.”

Jury selection is set to resume on Monday, March 29.

Hanson previously worked as the assistant director of planning and data analytics for the City of Fort Worth. Prior to working in Fort Worth, he worked in Wisconsin as the finance and information technology director for Sheboygan County and worked in a similar role for the City of Sheboygan.

“After an extensive nationwide search for the perfect candidate to meet the demands of being the Vice President of Administrative Services/Chief Financial Officer at Kilgore College, we feel fortunate to have attracted the caliber of talents possessed by Terry Hanson,” KC President Brenda Kays said in a statement. “His acumen in business, auditing and leadership will be valuable resources to accelerate Kilgore College and its students to new levels of achievement and success.”

Hanson also served as an auditor in Minnesota in municipal and legislative arenas. He earned a master's degree in business administration from Texas A&M University, a bachelor's degree in accounting from Bemidji State University and has also earned the highest level of certification in the Lean Six Sigma program.

“There are many items that excited me about Kilgore College,” Hanson said. “A few that stand out the most are the sense of pride everyone has as well as the sense of family that everyone has shown. In addition, the vision and the future of KC are bright. It is exciting to become part of the KC family, working together to make that vision and future a reality.”
