Boys & Girls Clubs in Kilgore and Henderson are set to reopen July 6 after months of little activity following the COVID-19 shutdown of most businesses deemed non-essential.
The Kilgore club, at 724 Harris Street, and the Henderson club, at 710 Robertson Boulevard, will reopen Monday, July 6, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Registration fees are $150 for the first child, $75 for the second and $50 for the third. Each additional child will have a $25 registration fee and there is a discount for military families.
BGC members enjoy a wide variety of activities which are recreational, educational and character-building. Kids learn to play together, work together and develop skills to serve them into adulthood.
“In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the street,” reads a statement on the Rusk County BGC website.
“An increasing number of children are at home with no adult supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them. The Boys & Girls Club of Rusk County offers that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.”
The clubs have stated they will strictly follow health and safety protocols and guidelines set in place by federal and state health agencies as the community continues to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.
