During the summertime, generally, blood supplies go down, in part due to regular donors’ being away on vacation, while the need for blood generally goes up, with more people being out and about and subject to accident and injury.

So, each and every eligible donor is especially encouraged to donate from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdaty, July 20, at 713 Florey St. in Kilgore during Kilgore Rotary Club and Pilgrim Lutheran Church’s 24th Quarterly Kilgore Community Blood Drive.

If you are eligible, please sign-up and donate! If you are not eligible, please find at least one person from among your coworkers, friends, and family who is eligible and will actually donate.

Together we can surpass the goal for the drive of collecting 25 or more units of blood and so, thanks to Citizens Bank of Kilgore, give away a total of $500 in cash to three donors or donor-recruiters (if we collect fewer than 25 units, one donor or donor-recruiter will be blessed with $25 in cash from another supporter).

The Blood Center is also giving each successful donor a free beach towel. Most importantly, each unit collected helps people in our communities.
