Shop Small, Win Big

Shop Small, Win Big

Kilgore Main Street is once again inviting visitors to ‘Shop Small, Win Big’ by supporting downtown businesses, and the effort’s even bigger in its second year.

Throughout the month of November, for every transaction of $25 or more at a participating Main Street District operation shoppers can collect a ‘golden ticket’ chance to win one of a handful of prizes, including a top award valued at more than $1,200. There are 27 businesses participating, and there’s no limit to how many tickets a person can accrue by investing in the small businesses.

The shopping effort continues through the end of downtown’s annual Mingle & Jingle soiree, set each year on Small Business Saturday following Thanksgiving, landing on Nov. 30 in 2019. Participants have until 9 p.m. that night to shop, collect tickets and turn them in to one of three prize barrel locations.

This year’s winner will be drawn Monday, Dec. 2.

“All the merchants enjoyed it last year, they wanted to do it again,” according to Sonya Waters, Kilgore Community Relations Manager. “Our focus of this year’s campaign is why it’s so important to ‘shop small.’

“Over the course of the month, we’re going to be introducing people to the business owners so they can see who specifically they’re supporting every time they shop in those stores. These are the people – their kids go to your school, they go to your church, they pay their taxes here, they live here, they are really supporting downtown Kilgore.”

With 27 businesses participating in the effort, it covers a wide array of products: food, clothing, accessories, services and more. Among the shops, three – Mitch Moehring Strings, Kilgore Mercantile & Music and FaithFit Nutrition – are prize barrel spots to turn-in tickets.
