“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
In Genesis, the Bible tells us that God, who calls Himself, “I Am” or “Self Existent One,” created the world as a perfect system for sustaining life. There was no death, no suffering, and no sorrow.
Like a well-made watch, the entire eco-system worked in perfect harmony with man to bring glory to the Creator and happiness to his creatures.
The first man, Adam, was the highest of all the creatures having been made in the Creator’s image.
Adam’s wife, Eve, was also made in God’s image. She was a perfect wife for an ideal husband.
Sadly, both Adam and Eve chose to rebel against God by violating the only law He had given to them. This simple law allowed them to eat the fruit of every tree in the garden except for one – the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
In direct violation of God’s command, they ate the fruit. Their sin of rebellion caused the world to be cursed and all people to be infected with a sinful nature.
The good news is that God has a cure for both the curse and the sinful nature. He sent His only son to pay the price for rebellion. It was a terrible payment involving punishment and death to this sinless and innocent person.
However, His sacrifice made it possible for the eventual creation of a new perfect heaven and earth. It also allowed humanity to have their sin debt paid and their sinful nature removed.
God is willing to accept anyone who admits they are sinners and receives God’s sacrifice as a gift. Jesus will ultimately place those who have received Him as Savior into a new world where sin, sorrow, and death are nonexistent.
Refusal of His gift will earn the wages of sin. The Bible says that those wages are death – separation from God for eternity.
