Scouts give flags final honors (copy)

Cub Scout Jaden Parsons and Kilgore Fire Department Honor Guard member Billy Cunningham hold the flag as Den Leader John Hester cuts the blue star field out of a tattered United States flag as part of a flag retirement ceremony in 2017.

Kilgore Scout Pack 251, sponsored by St. Luke’s Methodist Church, will host a flag retirement Saturday, March 27 at the campfire ring behind the former Maude Laird Middle School.

The Scouts invite anyone or any business in Kilgore to donate their old, faded or tattered flags for retirement.

Anyone wanting to donate their flags make take them to Mazzio’s this week, or call Carolyn at (903) 808-7475 or (903) 987-1880.

“We appreciate your donation to us and are dedicated to a respectful retirement of your old flag,” Carolyn Holcombe, Cubmaster for Scout Pack 251, said.
