Each year at Christmas time, Kilgore Improvement and Beautification makes the rounds throughout Kilgore, searching for the best and brightest displays of festive lights and holiday decorations.

The KIBA Christmas Lighting Awards are as follows:

BEST RESIDENTIAL LIGHTING: Joshua Watson, 1502 E. Leach St.

Nominations: 3107 Mimosa, 3111 Inwood, 18 Eden Place, 3603 Woodview, #2 Gateway, #5 Gateway, #37 Rim Rd., 3903 Forest Hills, 613 Town Oaks Cr., 425 Knowles, 2424 Florence, 2207 Simmons, 700 Leach, 601 Highland.

BEST COMMERCIAL LIGHTING: Arbor Grace of Kilgore, 2700 Henderson Blvd.

Nominations: Kilgore Public Library – East Window, Willow Creek Cottage, N. Kilgore St., JoMax, N. Kilgore St.

BEST LIGHTING FOR CHILDREN’S ENJOYMENT: Amy Wilkerson, 2907 Crestwood

Nominations: 1307 Oakwood 3411 Rockbrook, 3501 Lockhaven, 2912 Houston, 2411 Ivy, 2410 Ivy

BEST NATIVITY SCENE: Jean Laird, 1200 Jacomah

Nominations: 316 S. Kilgore St., 2922 Green Hills Dr., 2600 Wychelm, 3110 Inwood, 2207 Simmons

BEST DOOR LIGHTING: Jo Maxwell, 2205 Green Hills Dr.

Nominations: 2924 Houston St., 2704 Crestwood Ln., 2601 Chandler St., 118 King Ranch Rd.

BEST NEIGHBORHOOD LIGHTING: East Leech Street

Nominations: Crestwood Ln., Birdsong/Lockhaven

SPECIAL AWARD: Downtown Kilgore (derricks, stars and street lights) and the window displays at Tan Time, The Shops on Main, DeRigueur & Geektopia on Main Street; Kilgore Mercantile & Music, Willow Creek Cottage, Everything That Blings, JoMax Ofc., Schleier & Brown Ofc., Tommy Merritt Ofc. and Calamity Jane’s on Kilgore Street.

The lighting judges were Kim and Erin Gore and Debbie Dane.
