Helping Hands food pantry is open from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays for residents living in Kilgore ISD. Proof of residence of KISD school district is required.

The pantry’s Community Wide Produce Drop is set the second Monday of each month outside on the driveway beside the building, beginning at noon.

A Liver Transplant Benefit for Dustin Nichols will be held Saturday, Feb. 22 at Arp High School frmo 4 — 8 p.m.

Dustin Nichols receive a life-saving liver transplant in 1986 at the age of 7 but was unaware he also contract Hepatitis C through a blood transfusion which was not tested for until a year later.

It had been believed that the hepatitis was finally cured in 2015 but the damage to Dustin’s liver had already been done.

Back in August 2019, Dustin started noticing some differences in his health, which took a downward spiral that has now led him back to needing another life-saving liver transplant.

Dustin has worked all of his life and is unable to do so at this time.

The transplant is covered by insurance but the cost of getting the liver to him is not.

Dustin, his wife Julie, his sons Brian and Brandon along with the rest of his family are hosting a benefit dinner and concert to help raise the $56,000 he needs.

Please come show your support Feb. 22, 2020 from 4 – 8 p.m. Food for purchase will be served at the Arp High School auditorium. Concessions, a bake sale and a silent auction will be available in the commons area and Band Reeves will provide a concert at the football field.


The Canton Tractor-Truck Show and Swap Meet will be held April 10-11, 2020 from 9-5 Friday and 9-4 Saturday.

It is the largest tractor swap in East Texas and will include several tractor and truck clubs.

Old tractors, trucks, farm equipment and fly-wheel engine displays will be under covered pavilions at First Monday Grounds in Canton, TX.

Flea market, craft and food vendors welcome. Tractor/equipment exhibitors — free, vendors — $30 per covered space.
