Kilgore-area schools on Monday said they would continue to not meet in person this week because of inclement weather.
Kilgore ISD students will take part in remote learning Tuesday and Wednesday, with Superintendent Andy Baker saying in a statement that details about later in the week would be released on Wednesday.
“Remote Learning lessons were sent home with students last week. Students will need to turn in their completed activities to their teachers upon returning to school... these activities will be required for each day in order to be counted present for all Remote Learning Days this week,” Baker said. “Classroom teachers will be periodically checking emails to help answer questions about assignments during on these Remote Learning days. Parents can expect to receive an email from your campus principal with additional information this evening.”
Sabine ISD will be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the district said in a note. An evaluation about Friday will be made later in the week.
Overton ISD Superintendent Stephen DuBose said his district will be doing remote learning for all grade levels for Tuesday and Wednesday due to the hazardous road conditions.
“OISD acknowledges that some families in our community are without power or internet access and we will work with those who cannot access their classes when we return to in person learning,” he said. “The district will evaluate conditions on Wednesday and will make an announcement concerning the remainder of the week some time after noon.”
Leverett’s Chapel ISD said it would remain closed through Thursday.
“There is also predictions of more freezing rain and severe cold weather throughout the week,” a statement from the district said. “If a decision has to be made to also cancel school on Friday, another message will be sent out on Thursday. The students were sent home Thursday or Friday of last week packets to work on from each teacher in case this would happen. Please do your best to have the students work on their packets the best you can. Also, the home baseball scrimmage that was scheduled to take place on Thursday has been cancelled. Please everyone stay warm and stay inside!”
