It's still early to say for certain, but a wintry mix a possibility this weekend, National Weather Service says

The National Weather Service says uncertainty still exists, but confidence has increased in predictions that a wintery mix of rain and snow could be headed to East Texas late this weekend.

"The potential for a wintry mix of precipitation continues to look possible for the latter half of the weekend and possibly extending into early Monday," the National Weather Service said Thursday. "This scenario is dependent on the depth of cold air combined with the track of an upper low as well as a surface low along the Gulf coast. These factors could result in precipitation beginning as rain on Sunday before transitioning to a rain/snow mix or perhaps all snow Sunday night through early Monday morning."

The NWS's extended forecast for Kilgore, as of Thursday afternoon, was predicting a 20 percent chance of rain and then a 40 percent chance of rain and snow on Sunday, with a high of 42 degrees, and a 30 percent chance of rain and snow on Sunday night, with a low of 31 degrees.
