One person was killed Tuesday morning in a crash on Texas 31 northeast of Kilgore, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

Jose de Jesus L. Izaguirre, 31, of Longview was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers were called around 5:51 a.m. to Texas 31, about half a mile northeast of Kilgore, Sgt. Jean Dark said. A preliminary investigation shows a truck-tractor towing a semi-trailer was stopped at a yield sign on Texas 31 facing northeast and attempting to turn onto the entrance ramp for Interstate 20.

The truck-tractor failed to yield the right-of-way to a car traveling on Texas 31, Dark said, turned in front of the car and caused a collision. The car went partially under the towed trailer, Dark said.

The driver of the truck-tractor was identified as Homer J. Cotton III, 41, of Henderson.
