Kilgore PD seeks leads after Miles Street incident

An 18-year-old woman was shot Sunday afternoon as two groups exchanged gunshots on Miles Street.

According to a Monday press release from Kilgore Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Miles Street at about 2:30 p.m. on a reported shooting March 31.

They found the young woman with a gunshot wound to the neck, and she was transport by ambulance to Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center’s Longview ER for emergency surgery.

Meanwhile, “Initial investigation reveled two groups of individuals became involved in a dispute and exchanged gun fire,” KPD Assistant Chief Roman Roberson reported. “During the exchange the female was struck by a bullet. Several shell casings were recovered from the scene along with a handgun.”

Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the crime. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact KPD Sergeant-Detective Trae Portwood at 903-218-6905.
