A 50-year-old Kilgore woman was gunned down late on New Year’s Eve, and Kilgore police suspect the shooter quickly fled town.
Officers responded to a shooting at the Meadow Green Apartment Complex at 11:34 p.m. Sunday night. According to a KPD press release, Tracy Lynn Reedy was lying on the sidewalk, dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
“The unidentified suspect fled the scene before arrival of police,” KPD reported.
Few others details have been released from the Dec. 31 incident as the department’s criminal investigation unit continues to seek the as-yet unidentified shooter.
“We don’t believe he’s even in the area anymore,” KPD Assistant Chief Roman Roberson said Tuesday. “We think he’s likely traveled out of town.”
Additional information will be released as it becomes available, Roberson said.
“It’s family violence, as most murders are.”
The News Herald was unable to make contact with Reedy’s survivors after the shooting.
With KPD’s investigation ongoing, anyone with information in the case is asked to contact Det. John Rowe at 903-218-6906. Tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers (903-236-STOP), which will pay up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the crime.
