Graveside services for Mrs. Wanda Jean Jones Mayo, 80, of Kilgore will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, in the Rusk County Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore, with Rev. BP Cain officiating. Mrs. Mayo completed her earthly journey on Sunday, March 26, 2017 in Kilgore.
Wanda was born on December 7, 1936, in Kilgore to Dorvain and Alzora Jones. She graduated from Kilgore High School in 1955. Later that year she met and married the love of her life Cecil Mayo and they spent the next 61 years making many loving and happy memories together.
She was a member of Victory Road Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her flower beds and fishing. Her family was the source of her strength and spending time with them was when she was happiest.
Preceding her in death are her parents and a nephew, D. J. Jones.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Cecil of Kilgore; children, Margie Mayo McEchern and Clayton Howard Mayo, both of Kilgore; grandchildren, Becky Janae Gulledge and her husband Greg of Corpus Christi, Lance Mayo of Tampa, Fla., Melissa Stossel, Melody Burns and her husband Cameron, all of Kilgore; great-grandchildren, Klynt Raymond of New London, Nicholas Gulledge, Allison Gulledge of Corpus Christi , Jasper Stossel of Kilgore; sister, Norma ”Perk” Cline of Kilgore; brothers, James “Jimmy” Jones, John Jones and his wife Lee Ann and Joe Doc Jones, all of Kilgore; and special friends Bobby and Weedie Dotson of Kilgore. Also, left to carry on her legacy are numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other loving family members.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 28 from 5-7 in the evening.
The family also wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the Kilgore Health and Rehabilitation Center and Angel Care Hospice, especially her nurse Amanda and aide Brenda, for the loving care that they provided for Wanda during the final days of her earthly journey.
