Would-be voters have until the close of business Thursday to register to vote or make changes to their information ahead of Election Day, May 4.
Gregg County residents can find voter registration forms and other information online at GreggCountyVotes.org. Additional help is available through the county registrar’s office at 903-236-8458. In Rusk County, log on to www.co.rusk.tx.us/page/rusk.elections or call 903-657-0321 for assistance.
Kilgore City Clerk Rachel Rowe is also accepting registration forms on a limited basis. However, she recommends submitting them directly to county election officials.
“I can take them, but then I turn them into the county,” she said.
The deadline to turn in an application for ballot-by-mail in-person is Friday, April 19, Rowe noted; any submitted to her office must be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. due to the Good Friday holiday. Mailed applications must be received by county election officials by noon, April 23.
According to Rowe, there’s been a slight increase in ballot-by-mail applications this cycle.
“We’ve gotten a little more this year because of the college South Zone election,” Rowe noted. In that race, interim incumbent Janice Bagley faces challenger Charles Robinson for Place 7 on the Kilgore College Board of Trustees.
Early voting for the Spring 2019 election begins April 22 and wraps April 30. Election Day polling will be May 4 at Kilgore City Hall.
