Gregg County Sheriff’s Office personnel investigated two scenes in-and-near Kilgore after someone shot a vehicle off Old Hwy. 135 early Tuesday afternoon.
According to Kilgore Police Department, the man who reported the incident was in his vehicle at the Sun Acres Mobile Home Park when it was shot multiple times. The park is located at 129 Redoak St. just west of Old. Hwy. 135.
“There were three bullet holes in the front of the vehicle,” confirmed KPD Assistant Chief Roman Roberson. The man drove to Kilgore and soon after, “He flagged one of our officers down when he was at Skeeter boats. Our officer called Gregg County Sheriff’s Department, and they took over the investigation from there.”
Only general information is being released by GCSO as the investigation continues, and much of what transpired is still unclear.
“A little after noon, 12:10 p.m., we responded to a call of a vehicle being shot,” Cpl. Josh Tubb confirmed, “out off of Old Hwy. 135,” outside the Kilgore City Limits.
“As our deputies were responding we learned we had a second scene there in Kilgore near Skeeter boats,” which is located in the 2600 block of U.S. Hwy. 259 north.
The second, related call came in approximately 10 minutes after the first, Tubb noted.
According to Tubb, there were no specific details he could share – such as the number of individuals involved, the makes of vehicles, suspect information, what crimes might have been committed or a description of what happened – as the investigation continues.
“We’re not releasing any of that at this point,” he noted. That said, “We’re not actively looking for anyone. Investigators have interviewed all parties involved. They’re currently working the case with the evidence they collected and the interviews they made.
“Whatever charges are appropriate, they will be filing those with the Gregg County District Attorney’s office … There have been no arrests made at this point,” as of 2:35 p.m. Tuesday.
Reportedly, no one was injured in the incident.
The News Herald has submitted a Public Information Act request to GCSO seeking basic details about the two calls.
