The Sons Of The American Revolution installs new member

Members of Chapter 57, Sons of the American Revolution, met at Casa Ole' Restaurant on April 5, 2018 for their second meeting of the year. President, Carl Hedges, called the meeting to order and J.D. Denton, Chaplain, opened the meeting with prayer. Pledges were given to the Flag of the United States, the Texas Flag and the SAR Flag.

President Hedges asked for approval of the minutes from the February 1, 2018 meeting and the Treasurer's report. Member approval was given to both.

President Hedges conducted the SAR induction program for new member Mr. Gregg Gilliland. The SAR Rosette was pinned by John Bolton Registrar and Mr. Gilliland's sponsor. The patriot ancestor of Mr. Gilliland was Jacques Benigne Fontenette, Soldier with the Galvez ,New Orleans Militia.

President Carl Hedges introduced our program, Gina Smith and Elvis. Gina Smith is a massage therapist in Carthage,TX. She was accompanied by her dog, Elvis, who is a therapet. Gina works with children of all ages. Gina explained how she and Elvis worked in distressed areas where storms and Hurricanes have ravaged.

It was announced that the next meeting will be held on June 7, 2018 at Casa Ole' Restaurant, 280 Spur 63 in Longview, Texas. Any male who can trace his family history to a family member who served or supported the American Revolution is invited to attend our meetings and apply for membership to the Sons of the American Revolution.
